26 + 15

Wow, a month gone by already!! I must say I’m thankful for warmer temperatures as I’m able to take these two energetic girls outside to wear them out! Here’s what they’ve been up to:

Bethany at 15 months

-oh she is SO close to walking!! She’ll walk all around me without touching me as I sit on the floor, her ‘island of security’. She takes up to 20 steps by herself and will now do so between furniture. She is still working on her transitions (getting up from the floor, falling more gracefully), but she is getting there

-is very trusting! She does this crazy thing where she’ll walk backwards towards me and, without checking to see if I’m there, she’ll free fall into my waiting arms-what a turkey!

-chatters, chatters, chatters!! She loves to sing Old McDonald, her favorite line is “e-i-e-i-o” and she also can count to three! You can just see the little wheels turning in her head as she takes in new words and songs.

-is becoming a bit of a challenge for me. She recently has started to give this death scream when she doesn’t get her way or I take something away that she isn’t allowed to have. For example, she is in swimming lessons and did NOT want to be a part of the group (she wanted to do her own thing) and she would SCREAM every time I went near the group! I think this is the part where we realize that her middle name “grace” is meant as a reminder for mommy and daddy while we deal with her…

-has almost transitioned to only one nap a day :( she also has started fighting going down for naps and at bedtime…oh independence…

-LOVES to go down the slide at the park. Find the biggest slide in the park and plunk her at the top and just try to get to the bottom in time to catch her. No prompting is necessary with this girl, she pushes off almost the second you sit her at the top. Future roller coaster lover??

Anaya at 26 months

-continues to amaze us with how grown up she is becoming! She is such a little girl, definitely not a baby anymore. She LOVES to climb anything and everything. She is amazingly agile and will take on any obstacle, even when her legs are too short to succeed.

-There is a little triangle of space between our tv cabinet and a small toy box…she climbs up and over the toy box and plays in the little space all the time-so cute.

-She is beginning to understand pretend play. She absolutely loves the new playhouse we got and will carefully place the toy phone in its holder. She’ll also sit at the little picnic table and pretend to eat her fake hamburger.

-has this funny game where she puts a tea towel over her head (so she cant see) and goes walking around. She doesn’t seem to mind when she hits a wall…

-is definitely trying to talk. When we sing her favourite songs, she not only does all the actions, but also is trying to make the sounds that accompany them

I am so blessed to have my girls!! Even when they keep me up half the night due to sickness or when they scream or throw tantrums, my heart overflows.
